MELBA NEWS

2/2/08States of Melba's first practice in over three years. Attendance included the original four members. Two new songs added to the set list for Melba's first show!

1/11/08The new year of 2008 brings promise of a long awaited Melba reunion. States of Melba is slotted to play their first live show:
     Sunday, April 20, 2008
     Christian Life Church
     Trafford, PA 15085
The set list is in the works, and may contain a never before released Melba tune.
- With promise of a reunion additional plans have been made to reformat the Melba sites and produce new merchandise. Check back for details.

9/17/07Melba is now on Last.FM! Fans who have heard our free samples will be overjoyed to know the whole Malevolent Legumes album will soon be available for listening, with a few select tracks free for download. Special thanks to Melba friend and fellow musician, Steve Thompson, for the support and helping to make this possible.

4/22/07Melba's been framed! When visiting Melba's Official Website, fans will notice links to all pages are now always available in the top window or frame of each page.
- Still no talks of a reunion. With our drummer without drums, our keyboardist on the other side of the state, and our lead guitarist/bassist/singer in Greensburg but hermitized... there is very little chance of Melba rising from its slumber.

5/26/06Been a while (almost a year), Melba fans. As it stands, there doesn't seem to be any plans to get the band rolling again. It's talked about quietly in passing, but nothing too serious or committed.
- Rumor has it that Russ has returned to the Greensburg, PA area. Alas, still no talks of Melba get togethers.
- Melba's fan base slowly grows. Thanks to Google searches (from probably unrelated subjects), fans spreading the word, and our MySpace profile, a few more people have become States of Melba Aware. If you're reading this, you are aware. What this means is beyond comprehension. Having fans for a band that isn't? Wild.
- Links updated. Noticed that foul odor when links go bad.

7/20/05Promises of a Summer '05 live show featuring Melba are not looking... well... promising. No practices have occurred, Russ has been touring with Zao, and there is rumor that he will be moving to CA. This places Melba in Limbo unless a replacement(s) can be found. Russ is quite talented and was the backbone of Melba.
- You may have noticed (nobody noticed) that the Guestbook for this site was taken down. Apparently it was being abused as a billboard for various spam sites and drug companies. Fans may still write to Melba via email. Who knows, we may post a "Letters from Melba Fans" page if we get enough. Spam will be filtered, spammers.
- Some songs that were in the works: New Management Fries, County Market Jingle, Padme, Jedi Suck at Politics

2/28/05February was a big month for Melba. The release of the Local Rock Rumble CD (featuring Melba as the last track) along with a short description in Curb Magazine's January Issue. The February Issue of Curb Magazine features a full page interview with Melba. There are rumblings of playing a live show in the area some time in Summer of '05.

1/25/05States of Melba is also on MySpace.com. Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/statesofmelba. Just another step taken to spread the Melba.

1/24/05Curb Magazine's Local Rock Rumble 2004 Compilation CD will be available Feb. 9th. Featuring States of Melba's Valhalla (The Viking Song).

1/11/05We did manage to get a practice in over Thanksgiving vacation. Songs worked on included Unassembled Cyborg and D&D Memories. Unfortunately no recording was done and Melba will once again lose its drummer and guitarist after Zao goes on tour in about a week. This will delay the Enhanced CD's production until maybe Spring 05. Hate to keep everyone waiting, but higher powers are at work here.

12/5/04Melba Meeting held to discuss a new enhanced version of Malevolent Legumes. Additional songs to be added may include Snow Mountain Yeti and Late Night Fun. Also some video clips of practice may be added. Songs from the previous album and all this will be on a revamped Malevolent Legumes Enhanced version.

11/1/04Managed to get some free time to update. New Guestbook, Links Page, and hidden Links Page added. Also put a b&w group photo on the main page and moved the merchandise to a merchandise page.

9/20/04Working late into the night, I (KDave) have managed to restore and post the Lyrics, Members, Troubleshooting, and mysterious Viking Gods pages up on the new site. Using bits and pieces of the previous site since nothing was backed up. The Lyrics Page now has a printable version, you know, for karaoke night.

9/19/04States of Melba's Temporary Site (www.statesofmelba.8k.com) becomes its Official Site (www.statesofmelba.8k.com) after a short discussion about the mess that was Melba's original domain and the relinquishing of the password to access the new site. If you're reading this, you already know the new address is www.statesofmelba.8k.com. If not, the new address is www.statesofmelba.8k.com.

9/18/04States of Melba enters to feature a song (Valhalla) on Curb Magazine's Local Rock Rumble 2004 Compilation CD. There may also be a Rock Spotlight on the band when Zao returns to the states.

9/10/04Melba Guitarist and Drummer (Russ and Steve) are off to Europe as they tour with Zao. They should be returning sometime in late September before taking off on their US tour. Melba merchandise to be on sale during Zao's US Tour.

Summer04There was talk of a new album this summer; however the band members were scattered throughout the US for most of the season. Hopefully, a new recording can be scheduled for Melba fans for next summer. No promises, though let the rumors circulate.

6/6/02States of Melba is diligently working on the production of their first demo disk to be titled "Malevolent Legumes." Look for it, as well as a States of Melba sticker, to be on sale during Zao's upcoming tour.

3/5/02Los Capitanos, after many name and few member changes becomes STATES OF MELBA and begins practicing and recording regularly. Several songs are finished, many more sure to come. Look for a demo disk to be available sometime this summer.

10/21/01*Today marks the first official practice of Los Capitanos (now affectionately referred to as the Bison Syndicate) of 2001. A tentative layout for the band's demo album has been released: Snow Mountain Yeti, Archibald, Phantom Cyclist, Rise Up From Your Grave Tutankhamen, and D&D Memories, arrangement subject to change. Check the lyrics page for additional Archibald lyrics, and for the first time ever the lyrics to Snow Mountain Yeti.

*Note - The 10/21/01 entry was borrowed from the Los Capitanos site. Lyrics for some of the songs listed are not available on States Of Melba's official site.
